Guacamole with a Twist

  • Our family loves guacamole. I personally love my guacamole with a little curry powder and cumin. It’s a great flavor in the midst of any weekend barbecue. However, not everyone loves curry. So, I was inspired one day to put a different, kid friendly, twist to my guacamole.

    It’s pretty easy.

I suggest making guacamole the way you typically make it and then add the secret ingredient. I don’t do much. All I do is:

    1. Mash up avocadoes.
    2. Add cumin to taste.
    3. Add garlic to taste.
    4. Add a little salt. Our family likes pink Himalayan salt.
    5. Add a squirt or two from a lemon or lime. This will give the guacamole a nice bright taste. It also prevents it from browning.
    6. Finally, add the twist. Add a handful of roasted sunflower seeds. The sunflower seeds add a beautiful crunch to your guacamole and add some extra nutrition.

Once you make guacamole this way, you’ll never be able to go back to eating plain guacamole. All of your friends will ask what that crunch is and they’ll always ask you to bring the guacamole and chips to parties.

I hope your family enjoys this guacamole with a twist as much as my family does. Let me know how it turns out.
