You absolutely do not need fancy origami paper in order to enjoy the art of origami. However, if you are a paper folding enthusiast like I am, you might want to consider spending a few dollars on fun origami paper. It can come in a variety of colors, designs, patterns, materials, etc. Go wild!
One thing you will need in order to be a successful paper folder is square paper. Some models do not require starting from a square shape, but many do.
